2024 Mexico – United States – Canada Total Solar Eclipse

Get ready for the total solar eclipse coming to North America on April 8th.

There are excellent resources for you to plan for a safe and successful way to experience the eclipse.

Below are some useful websites to help predict if, when, and where clear skies may appear during the eclipse.  They may get slow closer to the time April 8th.


 

  • College of Dupagehttps://weather.cod.edu/satrad/
    • Under “RGB Colour Products” select “True-Color”. You can also play around with any of the “ABI Bands” but the “02:Visible (red)” would be the best option after the True color.
    • You can also change how zoomed in it is from “Select a Sector category”. – You can choose the number of frames to go further back in time.
  • Colorado StateGo to Website
    • This link should already have the style of satellite selected.
    • This one allows you to zoom in and out like you would with google maps You can also change the “# of (I)mages
  • SatSquatchhttps://satsquatch.com/map/
    • Under the layer option at the top right of the image select “Visible”, and then “Red Visible Band”.
    • This one allows you to zoom in and out like you would with google maps
    • If you happen to be heading to Newfoundland & the Bonvista, you can change the “sector” of the satellite under the “earth image” (below the layers), and select “Full Disk”.
