Silent Auction

Meade 8" Schmit Cassigrain Telescope & Accessories
Details PDF

$50

Day 1:  Monday March 11

80’s Era Meade SCT

We recently received a donation of a Meade 200mm Schmit Cassigrain Telescope from the 80s.

After evaluation, we decided it isn’t suited to our loan program without modification and investment, so it will be auctioned off to raise funds for the Club as-is.

Please see the PDF for details of what is included and what condition the scope is in.

Note:  AZ movement doesn’t work.  It has been recommended to move the optical tube assembly to an equatorial mount when these old bases are not working rather than trying to fix it.

How the Auction Works:

  • The starting bid is $50 CAD (The solar filter alone is worth more than $150 new)
  • You can submit a bid using the form below with your name, email address, and your bid amount.
  • The aution will run for 7 days, ending on Monday March 18th at 12:00 PM EST.  Plenty of time to get ready for the eclipse.
  • Each day, the value will be updated on the website.
  • At the end of the 7 days, the highest bidder will be the proud owner of some optical history.
  • If there is more than one person with the same final bid,  the winner will be chosen at random using a random number generator.
  • The successful bidder will be responsible for picking up the telescope from a council member or at a UTM meeting.
